Upright basses are the hardest string instrument for families to find locally, and the fractional sizes are harder still. We carry them in stock. If your student is starting bass in school orchestra this fall, you don't have to drive to Portland or wait on a shipment from out of state. Bass sizing is its own thing — it depends on the player's height and arm reach, and a bass that's too large is genuinely unplayable for a young student. We size students for free, no appointment needed. Every bass is set up in our Wilsonville shop before it leaves, so it plays in tune and responds the way a learning player needs it to.
