The body length of a 14-inch viola is the same the body length of a 4/4 violin. The 14-inch viola generally is a good fit for players ages 11 - 14 depending on the length of their fingers, arms, and span of their hand. The main difference between the 14-inch viola and a 4/4 violin is the depth of the ribs which helps the lower frequencies of the viola project more richly.
Our outfits include viola, bow, case, and rosin. All of our violas are set up by our luthier and strung with D'Addario Helicore or Thomastik Alphayue strings. Stop by any time during our regular business hours for a free sizing.
